Over time these pages will reflect most of the marine life that is visible to shallow free divers, snorkelers and tide-poolers. The majority of these images were taken at low tide in the Southern Gulf islands of the Salish Sea — the area once described as the Georgia Strait and Juan de Fuca/San Juan Islands. There is a focus on invertebrates (especially sea slugs — nudibranchs, bubble shells, sea hares, etc). If you click on the images below, you will be taken to pages which open into further images and information about the individual species.
