Clinging Jelly (Orange Cross), Gonionemus vertens

Description is below                                                                  Return to Jellies of the Salish Sea

It is always a treat to spot these small jellies in the intertidal and upper subtidal zone as they tend to hide in amongst the eelgrass, kelp and algae.  Their orange gonads form a distinct cross and their multiple tentacles literally “cling” via a velcro type appendage.
