Cooper’s Aldisa, Aldisa Cooper

This is an unusual little dorid for a snorkeller to find and I was surprised to find it in the upper intertidal during and extremely high fall tide.  They can range in colour from a very light yellow to a dark orange and can be easily mistaken for the Aldisa sanguinea or Blood Spot Aldisa. The Blood Spot Aldisa of the Salish Sea and British Columbia are usually not found with the dark spots on the back, so a noticeable series of dots down the centre of the notum does usually signal the find of a Cooper’s Aldisa.
