This species can initially be mistaken for the more common Pacific Sea Goooseberry (Pleurobrachia bachei) or the less common Cydippida sp. Those who are more familiar with “sea walnuts” and “gooseberry” comb jellies will notice this species has branched tentacles that immediately standout. What appear to be small pinkish coloured balls are simply a result of the branches coiling up into small lumps. Unlike the Pacific Sea Gooseberry, its combs do not run its full body length and its more oval-shaped body seems to have a slightly pinkish/red tinge to it.
