These photos primarily focus on the life that exists on a private dock on S’dayes (Pender Island). This is hopefully a plea to all dock owners — scraping your docks and freeing them of those “pesky” sponges and tube worms, kills a number of incredible animals and plants who find their home on these relatively stable structures. If you’re going to put in a private dock, encourage the ecosystems they support! A few of these photos were taken on the rocks about ten feet from the dock — fish, polyps, eggs, etc., often settle in close proximity. Photos taken in December, 2024 while snorkelling with the Pender Penguins or on my own.
